Matt Dugan

Matt Dugan

Researcher, Writer, Executive Producer & Project Manager | matt@shadowprod.com

Matt’s approach as a writer is heavily influenced by communication theory, an approach he first learned at Boston College while studying English and Speech Communication. In his graduate program in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Northern Arizona University, Matt concentrated on media, persuasion and behavior change, particularly in the realms of health, energy and the environment.  Matt’s award-winning writing draws on cultural archetypes and is informed by research in the behavioral sciences; the goal is to recognize and respect that communication is a process of understanding diverse age, income, and racial groups.  Matt is a veteran interviewer, having talked with hundreds of people of all ages, races and walks of life.  Matt has experience in conducting and using quantitative and qualitative research, and particularly in distilling data into messaging. As project manager at Shadow Productions, Matt is also responsible for communicating with the client and ensuring that projects come to completion on time and on budget.

Douglas Lang

Douglas Lang

Media Producer Specializing in Music, Sound, Animation and New Media | doug@shadowprod.com

An electrical engineering education at the University of Vermont allowed Doug to combine his talents as a composer and musician with a technical background.  Doug’s career path–through record engineering and producing, to sound engineering, to radio spot and jingle production, to animation, video spot and web production—has had one consistent theme:  The creative assembly of aural and visual elements, combined with intimate knowledge of delivery media, to bring about a desired result.  Doug has created award-winning work in all of the above media.  Doug is an uncommon blend of creativity and technological expertise; he excels at finding ways to deliver web-based multimedia in full color, size and fidelity, and in solving the thorny problems of multiple platforms.  In the realm of website design, Doug has considerable experience with HTML 5.  Doug works primarily from his recording studio on his boat, sailing to warmer waters for the Vermont winter.

Alex Ball

Alex Ball

Audio and New Media Producer | alex@shadowprod.com

Alex approaches communication with a philosophy that, first and foremost, the product must work from a creative standpoint.  An extensive background as a stage actor helps Alex understand how to coax the best performances out of talent, as well as how to get the right take that somehow just “works”.  Alex combined the diverse majors of history and theater arts at Castleton State College.  Upon graduation, he followed his theater path to such diverse locations as the Midwest (where he worked as a stage manager on the national tour of “Freedom Bound”) and New Jersey (to work with the Opera Festival of New Jersey), before returning to Vermont, where he served on the board of the Green Candle Theater Company and also performed theater for young audiences, including a stint for the Vermont Association of Recyclers teaching recycling issues.  Alex came to the field of advertising as talent, learned radio production at ClearChannel, and has been with Shadow Productions since 1998.  At Shadow, Alex has combined his producing, acting and directing experience to become a producer of some of the state’s most recognized radio campaigns.  Alex currently lives in Rochester, Minnesota, where his wife is a leading pathologist at the Mayo Clinic.
